Gamrot's Grind and Vieira's Rise: UFC Rankings Update After May 31 Event
Mateusz Gamrot didn’t win any new fans with his grinding performance, but he did win rounds — and another notch in the rankings. After a dominant win over Ludovit Klein, Gamrot moves up to #7 in the lightweight division, trading spots with Renato Moicano, who slides down to #8. Gamrot’s style might not please the crowd, but his consistency against strikers continues to pay off.
One of the biggest leaps in the women’s ranks comes at bantamweight, where Ketlen Vieira jumps five spots to #4 after dominating Macy Chiasson. The fight wasn’t flashy, but Vieira’s control was undeniable — and the ranking panel rewarded her accordingly. Chiasson drops to #9, a notable fall that reflects both the loss and her recent inconsistency.
At flyweight, Allan Nascimento enters the top 10 for the first time, moving up five spots after a grinding win over Jafel Filho. His physicality and grappling edge helped him outlast the faster starter and might signal a late-career surge in a wide-open 125 lb division.
Dustin Jacoby also made noise — literally — with a first-round knockout of Bruno Lopes, earning him the #11 spot in the light heavyweight rankings. The win marked Jacoby’s second straight violent finish, signaling that he may be turning a corner in his UFC run. Bogdan Guskov, Oumar Sy, and others all drop one spot to make room.
A footnote with long-term consequences: Maycee Barber missing weight and failing to make the walk against Erin Blanchfield could haunt her standing more than any loss. For now, the rankings hold, but Blanchfield missed out on a clear title eliminator opportunity, and Valentina Shevchenko flew in just to watch that vaporize in real time.
The rest of the card didn’t produce much ranking drama — except perhaps for Ramiz Brahimaj, who submitted Billy Ray Goff in brutal fashion. While not yet ranked, another highlight-reel finish like that might change that soon.
Stay tuned — the rankings ripple from even the quietest cards.
